Volunteers needed
Are you interested in getting more involved in your community? The city has a need for volunteers on three different volunteer boards or commissions. The openings are available on the City Beautiful Commission, Personnel Appeals Board and the Planning Commission.
If interested, download a volunteer application from www. westcarrollton.org/documents/ board-commission-application/ or obtain one at the Civic Center, 300 E. Central Ave., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The City Beautiful Commission meets at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. The commission plans ways to encourage the beautification of the community and also helps to host communitywide events such as the Community Pride Day, Rake Rally and Holiday Festival. There are several openings on the commission.
The three-member Personnel Appeals Board meets only as needed to hear appeals upon request of any employee who has been suspended or removed from his/her position. Members serve three-year terms. Two new members are needed for this board.
The Planning Commission, which meets at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, serves as review board for new building or redevelopment plans submitted to the city. Commission members serve five-year terms. There is one opening on the Planning Commission.
For more information about any of the volunteer positions call Carie Cottongim, assistant clerk of council, at 937-847-4633.
