MORE THAN 100 JOBS ON THE WAY TO MIAMISBURG
Cincinnati, Oakwood firms moving to Austin Business Park building.
MIAMISBURG — More than 100 additional jobs are expected to come to Miamisburg in the next year, bringing new development and filling space in a growing business park near Interstate 75.
About 60 jobs combined from Cincinnati and Oakwood will be moving to an Austin Business Park building along Byers Road in one of two tax deals the city approved last week, officials said.
The second agreement involves a Washington Twp.-based firm bringing more than 50 jobs after it constructs a 35,000- to 40,000-square-foot site as part of a $4 million investment, according to the city.
C&E Advanced Technologies on 677 Congress Park Drive in Washington Twp. and ChangeUp at 53 Park Ave. in Oakwood would both relocate their headquarters as part of income-tax incentives offered by Miamisburg.
“It represents about 110 jobs and about $9 million in annual payroll,” Miamisburg Development Director Chris Fine said. “Collectively, that’s a pretty good chunk for the city. They’re good projects that will have a positive impact.”
C&E would receive a threeyear, 30-percent credit on local income taxes in exchange for the new building, which would house 53 jobs and a $3.1 million annual payroll, Miamisburg records show.
The deal for ChangeUp would involve a 25-percent, five-year income tax credit on a payroll of $6 million, according to city records.
The agreement with ChangeUp would combine about 15 jobs from Oakwood and 45 others from the Cincinnati office of Interbrand at Austin Business Park, Miamisburg records show.
Interbrand was acquired by ChangeUp, a retail design consul-
tancy, earlier this year. Inter- brand Retail includes Design Forum, which was founded by Lee Carpenter. Carpenter left Interbrand and founded ChangeUp, records show.
ChangeUp will occupy about 18,000 square feet in the Austin Business Park Building II, according to Mark Fornes of BW Part- ners, which operates the park.
The business park has been a focal point of development for Miamisburg in recent years, an effort bolstered by the construction of Nickolai Boulevard.
The new road built by the city as part of a multi-million deal for United Grinding to construct its North American headquarters near the Austin Boulevard interchange is expected to boost develop- ment near I-75.
Earlier this month, a third Austin Business Park building was approved. The 60,000-square-foot site will be just north of the site Chan- geUp is expected to occupy, officials said.
ChangeUp may make the move by this summer, according to Fine.
The relocation of C&E Advanced Technologies — the business sells, distributes, designs and integrates sensor technology — is expected to take longer, possibly by next spring, Fine said.
The company is considering a site in Interstate Technical Park off Byers Road near the I-675/I-75 interchange, records show.
“They’ve got a couple of sites they’re looking at,” Fine said. “But they’re still negotiating. If they come to terms they could buy that land and build a facility there.”
