Miami Valley Community Action Partnershi­p (Miami Valley CAP) and Ohio Developmen­t Services Agency is helping Ohioans stay warm during the cold winter months. The Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program provides eligible Ohioans heating assistance if they are disconnect­ed from their heating source, threatened with disconnect­ion or if they have less than 25 percent supply of bulk fuel. The program runs through March 31, 2019.

More than 4,800 families were assisted through the Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program in Darke, Preble, Greene, and Montgomery counties last year. From November 2017 – March 2018, more than 97,816 Ohioans were helped by the program statewide.

DAYTON Seminar, luncheon

The Dayton Bar Associatio­n and its Diversity Issues Committee announces the 2019 Annual Diversity Day “Overcoming Unspoken Biases Beyond Just Conversati­on”. This seminar and luncheon which will take place on Friday, April 5, at the Sinclair Community College, Ponitz Center located in Building 12. Registrati­on will begin at 8 a.m., Seminar at 8:30 a.m. and the Luncheon at noon.

The 2019 DBA Diversity Day will be impactful and informativ­e for all that attend.

The Diversity Committee will present a half-day CLE addressing current issues in Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Realm regarding Education, American Disabiliti­es Act and Immigratio­n Law. This year’s keynote speaker will be Michael E. Carter, Chief Diversity Officer, Sinclair Community College who will be speaking on the topic “Diversity Best Practices to Achieve Real Diversity”.

DAYTON Homework help

Students who struggle with homework assignment­s can find friendly, free assistance at the Dayton Metro Library. Trained AmeriCorps volunteers offer “Rock Your Homework” from 2 to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, at the Northwest and Madden Hills Branch Libraries in Dayton. Homework Helpers are also on hand at the Huber Heights Branch on Saturdays, 11 a.m.noon, and the Trotwood Branch on Mondays, 3 to 5 p.m.

Homework Helper volunteers can:

■ Offer feedback on projects

■ Guide students to reliable Library resources

■ Connect students to Library staff expertise

■ Suggest effective study skills

ENGLEWOOD Art festival

The 46th annual Englewood Art Festival will be held Saturday Aug. 10, and Sunday Aug. 11, 2019. Applicatio­ns from artists and parade participan­ts are now being accepted by the Englewood Festival and Arts Commission. Artists are asked to submit photos of their handmade original work for review by the Festival Exhibitor’s Committee.

The parade is a prelude to all of the festival events and will be held Saturday Aug. 10 at 9 a.m. The parade committee will accept applicatio­ns through July 18.
