Roosters seeks land for more parking

— A plan to add MIAMI TWP. parking for a restaurant that opened in Miami Twp. earlier this year is expected to go before trustees tonight.

Roosters is seeking to buy more land for parking next to its Ohio 741 location because its on-site parking of 100plus spaces isn’t sufficient to accommodate customers during peak business times, company officials said.

The restaurant/sports bar chain wants to add about .7 acres just east of its 9400 Springboro Pike site. Since the move from a smaller building it rented north of the Dayton Mall in Miamisburg, customers have routinely been filling Roosters parking and occupying lots nearby, officials said.

Roosters customers also have been parking in areas of the lot that are not marked for parking and on the road east of the site, officials said.

Miami Twp. trustees are expected to vote on the final plan tonight. Trustees spoke favorably of the proposal when they approved a preliminary plan this spring.

Roosters President and CEO Dan Ponton has said his company plans to buy land for about 70 spaces.

Operators of the Exchange at Spring Valley, the home of Roosters’ new site, are proposing to sell land east of the restaurant, Miami Twp. records show. Barring unforeseen issues, construction is expected to start this summer, officials said.

The new Roosters site — bought in 2017 after Caddy’s Tap House closed — is between the Dayton Mall and Austin Landing across from LexisNexis. It features about 400 seats and nearly 8,400 square feet, Nader said.

The chain that started in 1988 has more than 40 locations in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Indiana, according to its website.
