Northridge principal facing felony charge
Mother of his children says he punched her in the face multiple times.
Northridge High School Principal Andrew Craig Ewing faces a felony count of substantial battery intending bodily harm stemming from an alleged domestic incident in Wisconsin on June 22.
Ewing was accused by the mother of his children of throwing her to the ground and punching her in the face two or three times, breaking a tooth and her left orbital socket, according to a statement from a Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin police officer.
The statement also says the victim grabbed the children and drove away, but her eye swelled shut, so she pulled over and called Beloit, Wisconsin police and EMS.
Columbia County court records show Ewing, 42, also faces a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge in the case and has already had an initial court appearance. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 14.
Thursday afternoon, school board President Tina Fiore said the district was aware of an investigation but referred all questions to Superintendent Dave Jackson.
“He is on leave, and we are awaiting the outcome of the investigation,” Jack- son said of Ewing.
Asked about any history of problems, Jackson said the district has not had disciplinary concerns with Ewing, who has been high school principal for two years. Ewing has worked in the district for more than a decade.
Jacks o n said the high school’s assistant principal is serving as acting principal. Because of delays in the construction of Northridge’s new K-12 campus school, students won’t return until Sept. 23.
