Apollo: The Forgotten Films, 8 PM on DSC; 12 AM on DSC:

This new two-hour special celebrates the 50th anniversar­y of the Apollo 11 moon landing through the use of previously unfamiliar footage taken from NASA Research Centers, the National Archives and local and network news reports of the period. What emerges is an immersive viewing experience, a remarkable — and remarkably complete — behind-the-scenes look at the exhaustive preparatio­n that went into sending the first human beings to the moon.

Movie: First Man, 8 PM on HBO; 12:25 AM on HBO:

An Academy Award for best visual effects went to Damien Chazelle’s 2018 biographic­al drama adapted by screenwrit­er Josh Singer from James R. Hansen’s book “First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong.” Leading man Ryan Gosling received excellent reviews for his performanc­e as Armstrong, as did Claire Foy (“The Crown”) for her portrayal of Janet Shearon Armstrong, the astronaut’s first wife. The strong acting ensemble also includes Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll, Pablo Schreiber and Christophe­r Abbott.

Hanging With the Hendersons, 9:02 PM on ANPL; 12 AM on ANPL; 5 AM on ANPL:

In the new episode “It Takes a Village,” the Hendersons try to stay active in their community any time the opportunit­y arises, so when a wolf-hybrid who has sustained massive injuries arrives at their doorstep, the whole team rallies together to help. Later, while Dr. Ross is sharing his love of veterinary medicine and music at a local grade school, Drs. Ryan and Tony spend volunteer time helping at a free veterinary clinic.
