Community art show
Village Artisans Gallery is announcing a Call for Entries for its upcoming “Laughter is the Best Medicine – A Community Art Show.” The gallery invites artists from Yellow Springs, Dayton, and the surrounding area to enter up to three original 2D and 3D art pieces in any media that fit the theme of “Laughter is the Best Medicine.”
Entry forms are available in the gallery and via the gallery’s blog and Facebook site. Artwork, entry forms, and fees should be delivered to the gallery in person by September 30. The entry fee is $10 for one and $5 for each additional piece. The show runs Oct. 3-Nov. 11, 2019, with an Artist Reception on Friday, Oct. 18, from 6-9 p.m.
Village Artisans is a cooperative art gallery in Yellow Springs featuring locally-made, affordable hand crafted jewelry, woodworking, pottery, photography, paintings, drawings, fiber, glass, and mixed media art. Located at 100 Corry St., the regular gallery hours are Monday–Thursday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Sunday, Noon-5 p.m. with extended hours for special events. This facility offers specially designed layout and equipment adapted to provide all access functionality for visitors who are at the park and Owen’s Place recreational facility.
Owen’s Place provides universally accessible play and recreation areas in a safe environment for individuals of all ages and ability levels. The two agencies are working with the private non-profit organization behind Owen’s Place to provide the Southwest Ohio region with a unique destination recreational place. Before this new bathroom’s construction, the nearest restroom was located over 175 yards away. The project was one of the top priorities behind the successful 2017 levy campaign run by the Beavercreek Township Park District to provide sufficient income to invest into new infrastructure that would meet these future needs of the Park District.
