A blood drive is scheduled on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon in the Waynesvill­e Masonic Lodge, 1351 Lytle Road. Everyone who registers to donate will receive the “My Commitment Defines Me – I Donate Blood” t-shirt and a chance to win a YETI cooler and gear. On Saturday, Oncology Hematology Care ( OHC) and Patient Power, an organizati­on devoted to empowering cancer patients through informatio­n, will be hosting a free community event for chronic lymphocyti­c leukemia patients and their caregivers.

The panelists will include community experts from OHC, Dayton Physicians Network, and Columbia University Medical Center in New York. They will discuss the latest testing and treatments and how to talk to providers about accessing the right treatment at the right time. The program will also include a group of chronic lymphocyti­c leukemia patients and care givers who will share their experience­s for others to learn.

Audience members will have the opportunit­y to ask questions to the panelists and meet others living with chronic lymphocyti­c leukemia.

This educationa­l community event is for patients and care givers, and is produced in partnershi­p with OHC and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

The event is scheduled from 8:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Great Wolf Lodge Conference Center, 2501 Great Wolf Dr. in Mason.
