Bike paths and chocolate
The Dayton area is in for a sweet treat as Xenia prepares for its inaugural Chocolate Trail Bicycle Ride and Run. Held on Sept. 14, this event combines Xenia’s popular bike paths with everyone’s favorite indulgence.
“We are thrilled to be the host city for the Chocolate Trail Bike Ride and Run,” said Jared Holloway, Assistant City Manager for the City of Xenia. “Our incredible network of bike paths are a source of pride for our community, and we look forward to seeing them be utilized in such a fun and unique way.”
The Chocolate Trail Bike Ride is an all-ages, family-friendly event, where participants can choose from 7, 22, and 60-mile routes, each of which have chocolate stops along the way. The ride begins downtown and takes riders on the road until the halfway point where they’ll take the scenic route along the bike path.
The event will also include a 5K Run/Walk and a 0.3-mile KitKat Shuffle, both of which take participants on the beautifully maintained biking/walking paths. All routes are accessible, so whether a person is a competitive runner, a family with strollers, or a someone in a wheelchair, this race is for everyone.
The Chocolate Trail Bike Ride and Run begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. All finishers are welcome to stay downtown for their final delicious chocolate stop. A portion of the proceeds will be divided between revitalization efforts in downtown Xenia and Toward Independence, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving adults with developmental disabilities.
