As the 2020 presidential election takes shape, 20 Democratic candidates debated issues such as health care and the economy over the last two days, while President Donald Trump is set to campaign in Cincinnati tonight.

During Tuesday night’s debate health care emerged as the major issue as Senators BernieSanders and Elizabeth Warren pushed “Medicare for all” plans.

A full six months before the first votes are cast, the tug-ofwar over the future of the Democratic Party pits pragmatism against ideological purity as voters navigate a crowded Democratic field divided by age, race, sex and ideology.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Kamala Harris, Sen. Cory Booker and seven other Democrats faced off Wednesday night.

In his first official Ohio campaign stop for 2020, President Trump is at U.S. Bank Arena at 7 p.m. in Cin- cinnati along with Vice President Mike Pence.

Southwest Ohio played a key role in Trump’s 2016 win in Ohio. While Democrat Hillary Clinton won Hamilton County by 10 points. Trump won more than 60% of the vote in most surround- ing counties including Warren, Butler, Darke, Miami, Preble, Shelby and Cham- paign. Trump won Montgom- ery County 47.97 to 47.24% making him the first Repub- lican to win the county since 1988.

This is the 29th rally Trump has had in Ohio, showing that the state is key for him in 2020. Trump won Ohio by 8 points in 2016, but a recent poll by Quinnipiac University shows the president behind or nearly tied with the top Democratic candidates.

“To get re-elected, Trump will need to win the industrial Midwest. Ohio certainly is key to that plan,” said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
