James Frye, 39, of Centerville, faces charges after police responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at his home.

A police report states that officers were sent to Frye’s residence at approximately 6:58 p.m. June 29 to investigate a domestic dispute in progress.

Frye is an on-air radio host, known as ‘Frye Guy,’ and formerly of K99.1 FM. Nick Roberts, Cox Media Group Ohio’s vice president of Marketing and Radio, said Frye is no longer with the company.

Frye was charged June 29 in Kettering Municipal Court with two counts of aggravated menacing, one count of domestic violence (threats), and one count of child endangering, according to court records.

The two counts of aggravated menacing and the child endangering charge are first-degree misdemeanors. The domestic violence charge is a fourth-degree misdemeanor, according to court documents.

Frye pleaded not guilty to all charges at a July 1 arraign- ment and has posted bond, which was 10 percent of $30,000. A pre-trial hear- ing has been scheduled for August 8 in Kettering Municipal Court.

A temporary protection order has been issued in the case.

Frye’s attorney, Kevin Lennen, said that he plans to put up a vigorous defense.

are in the process of putting together a strong defense against these charges,” he said. “I believe in his version of events and believe that he is innocent of all these charges.”

Roberts said K99 will continue to provide the same high-quality programming that listeners are accustomed to. Frye was a morning show host with Nancy Wilson.

“James Frye’s contract with us was up, and he is no longer employed by K99.1 FM. We wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Roberts said. “The show will continue to revolve around new country music and longtime popular radio host Nancy Wilson giving listeners that same great morning show that they love.”
