» Neighboring church to hold ‘Hour of Power’ service today,
— Leaders of a DayDAYTON ton church blocks from the scene of last weekend’s mass shooting want to comfort those in pain.
Holy Trinity Cath o lic Church, 272 Bainbridge St., will hold a prayer service, the “Hour of Power,” from 7-8 p.m. today.” Faith and community go hand-in-hand. Being on Fifth Street since 1861, our parish church of Holy Trinity has served as a beacon of hope and light for the Dayton community in good times and in bad,” said Father Angelo Anthony. “It is in tragic times like this that we need to lean on one another and to pray for God’s healing love and wisdom to guide us through the darkness and into new life.”
Shaughn Phillips, director of evangelization and young adult ministry at Holy Trin- ity, said the Oregon District is special to the church and those who attend it.
“The Oregon District is our neighborhood. Whether it is Judi, our business manager, visiting her son who runs Lucky’s or myself going to Urban Krag to climb after work, the Oregon District is our home where we work, pray and celebrate life,” Phil
lips said. “It is literally our family!”
He added, “Father Angelo, our pastor, and the entire Holy Trinity team mourns with our neighbors,” he
said. “We stand at the foot of this cross together. We hope Saturday evening will be another opportunity for healing as a community so that we can continue forward to build a stronger Dayton for peace and justice.”
