Holiday at Home is one of the Dayton area’s most popular festivals. Held over Labor Day weekend, Kettering residents of all ages have enjoyed Holiday at Home for more than 50 years.

The 2019 Holiday at Home events will be centered on the theme “Hits It Out Of The Park,” and there will be many opportunities to take part in activities that center around home base, our beloved Kettering community.

First batter up at the plate is the Holiday at Home 5K race and kids fun run on Monday, Sept. 2, from 8 a.m. 2 p.m. The race welcomes all levels of runners and walkers to participate in one of the region’s premier road races. Start your morning off taking in the scenic views of Kettering while racing to the finish line. There will be an awards ceremony along with a pancake breakfast for runners following the race.

The Holiday at Home car show is sure to be a base hit on your Labor Day weekend. The popular Kettering Holiday at Home car show promises to offer a large variety of cars for auto enthusiasts of all ages. On Sunday, Sept. 1, Holiday at Home will host a vintage car show. The entertainment continues with the Annual Invitational Auto Show on Monday, Sept. 2 from noon to 5 p.m. Only the best cars from a wide cross section of different types and marquees will be featured in this high-quality showcase.

Rounding third base is the annual Kettering Arts & Crafts Show featuring more than 100 unique vendors. Hailing from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Florida and Pennsylvania, many artisans are hand-chosen to participate in one of the area’s most well-known and loved shows offering items for any taste or budget. This event regularly features photography, wheel-thrown pottery, original folk art items, floral art and wreaths, dolls and accessories, leather crafts, handcrafted candles, soaps and lotions, ceramics, stained glass, original and unique jewelry, leaf castings, one-ofa-kind outdoor décor, woodcrafts, clothing, handcrafted jams from locally grown produce and much, much, more.

Coming in to home plate is the Holiday at Home parade, one of the largest annual parades in Ohio, attracting as many as 100,000 spectators from throughout the region. The parade kicks off at 9:55 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 2, flowing north for nearly a mile along Far Hills Avenue, starting at Stroop Road and ending just before Dorothy Lane.

The parade includes units from civic groups, high school music programs, service organizations, car clubs and honored veterans from various branches of the military. In recognition of their service to the community, Neil & Willa Jean Smalley have been named the 2019 Holiday at Home Grand Marshals. Look for them during the parade and at all of the Holiday at Home festivities in Kettering.

All of the Kettering Holiday at Home festivities are organized and orchestrated by a team of dedicated community volunteers. The City of Kettering wishes to thank the Holiday at Home volunteers for their hard work and dedication to an event that the entire Kettering community is proud to consider one of its most treasured traditions.
