Bellbrook schools must find new board member

Kingston resigns from position due to health reasons, district says.

Longtime board member Kathy Kingston resigned from an unexpired term on Monday to deal with health issues.

A replacemen­t is needed within 30 days to fill a now vacant Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Board of Education seat.

Longtime board member, Kathy Kingston, resigned from an unexpired term, effective Monday,

Dec. 23. Kingston who has served on the board for more than 13 years,resigned due to her health, according to the school district.

“Kathy fulfilled a key role regarding legislativ­e actions that impacted our schools, advocating for the good of our students and the best interests of our community,” said David Carpenter, board vice president. “Her contributi­ons to and enthusiasm for public education are an encouragem­ent and example for us. She served many years as a teacher in our district and continued by serving on the board in her retirement. We thank her for her many years of service and wish for her to have a full and complete recovery.”

According to a release, a newly

appointed member will serve until Dec. 31, 2021. If the new member chooses to continue serving, they must run in the next general election.

Applicatio­ns for the position are due by Jan. 2. Those interested should submit a letter of interest, complete the board member applicatio­n and send the letter and applicatio­n to Carpenter at St. Pierre Education Center, 3757 Upper Bellbrook Rd., Bellbrook, OH 45305 or via email to david. carpenter@bss.k12.oh.us. Applicatio­n forms can be found online at www.sugarcreek.k12.oh.us.

The board said it will review all applicatio­ns and choose a replacemen­t at the Jan. 9 meeting.
