15-year-old suffers life-threatening injuries in shooting
A 15-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized after a shooting in Dayton over the weekend.
Dayton police Lt. Jason Hall said the department is continuing to follow leads and are asking for the public’s help to solve a drive-by shooting that took place on Catalpa Drive on Sunday. In the incident, the 15-year-old and a 16-year-old were shot.
The 16-year-old is listed in good condition, according to Hall.
Police have identified multiple persons of interest, and investigators are looking to speak to them, but officers did not identify any potential suspects.
“We are still in the active stage of this investigation,”
Hall said, adding that police believe the shooting was a result of an ongoing altercation between the victims and a group of suspects.
Hall said any kind of gunplay on the streets poses a danger to the community.
“Any time a weapon is fired in a densely populated area like a city, it’s a very very dangerous situation and we take it very seriously. And we are going to work diligently to locate the people responsible,” Hall said.
Investigators are looking for a silver Saturn Vue SUV with distinctive features, including a spare tire on the right-rear wheel and heavy window tint, Hall said.
