Major events at Schuster Center and Nutter Center canceled or postponed
Events scheduled over the next several weeks for some of the Dayton area’s largest venues are now canceled or postponed.
Wright State Communications Director Seth Bauguess said that all shows at the Nutter Center, 3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy. in Fairborn, in the near future are canceled.
“(In compliance) with the governor’s order, all events of 100 or more will be canceled at the Wright State Nutter Center until the ban is lifted,” Bauguess said.
Likewise, Dayton Live (formerly the Victoria Theatre Association) announced the postponing of events at its venues: the Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, The Loft Theatre and the PNC Arts Annex. A statement reads: “Dayton Live is currently working to reschedule upcoming performances, including presentations by Dayton Live, Dayton Ballet, Dayton Opera, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, The Human Race Theatre Company, and any promoters renting the buildings. We will provide more details about what to do with your tickets as soon as possible. In the meantime, do not come to the Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, The Loft Theatre, or the PNC Arts Annex as they are closed until further notice. The Arts Garage will remain open for business.”
Upcoming shows in the next three weeks at those venues included “Gloria: A Life” through March 15; Dayton Contemporary Dance Company’s “Untold Stories” March 12 and 13; Drum Tao 2020 March 14; “Jane in Concert March 14, “The Price Is Right Live” on March 15; “MasterChef Junior Live!” on March 17; The Dayton
Philharmonic Orchestra’s “The Music of The Rolling Stones: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards 1969” on March 21 and “Summer: The Donna Summer Musical” March 31 to April 5.
Dayton Live is working to reschedule as many of those programs as possible. Ticketholders should await updates by email or on Dayton Live’s social media accounts, spokeswoman Diane Schoeffler-Warren said.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced an order Thursday that bans mass gatherings of more than 100 people.
The order includes auditoriums, stadiums, arenas, large conference rooms, meeting halls, cafeterias and any other confined indoor or outdoor space.
The ban comes as the cases of coronavirus in the state grew to five.
It also applies to parades, fairs and festivals, but does not apply to typical office environments, schools, restaurants, factories, libraries, malls and retail, religious gatherings, voting locations and grocery stores.
Wright State had already canceled on campus events, meetings and other gatherings, Bauguess said.
Comedian Jeff Dunham was scheduled to perform at the Nutter Center on March 19. The Professional Bull Riders showcase set for March 14 was already canceled.
The Winter Guard International championships, set for April at the Nutter Center and elsewhere in the region, were canceled Wednesday.
Bauguess said he did not know yet if events would be rescheduled.
