Crocs donates shoes to Dayton hospitals

-

Footwear maker Crocs — which opened a Dayton distribution center near the Dayton International Air- port in recent months — is donating 14,000 pairs of shoes to the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Associa- tion to distribute through the local Ohio health systems, a Crocs spokesman said Friday.

Heidelberg Distributing and JobsOhio are supporting the effort.

“These shoes will reach hospitals large and small, including Dayton Children’s, Kettering Medical Center, Miami Valley Hospital, and Wilson Memorial Hospital among others,” Crocs spokesman Josh Holland told the Dayton Daily News. “Deliveries are being coor- dinated through the gener- osity of Heidelberg Distributing Company.”

“Like everyone, we’ve been closely monitoring the news and working hard to map out a way to most effectively help where we can,” Crocs President and Chief Executive Andrew Rees said in a statement. “Over the past week, we have spoken to healthcare workers, their facilities and even their family and friends, and they have specifically asked for our shoes in an effort to provide ease on their feet, as well as ease of mind as they need the ability to easily clean up before they go home to their families.

“The Dayton community has warmly welcomed Crocs with our new distribution center, and are pleased to partner with JobsOhio for this donation of 14,000 pairs of Crocs to help our heroes in healthcaree.”

STAFF REPORT deadline is Oct. 1, 2021, said Chad Wolf, DHS acting sec- retary.

“The federal, state and local response to the spread of the coronavirus here in the United States necessitates a delay in this dead- line,” Wolf said. “Our state and local partners are work- ing tirelessly with the Admin- istration to flatten the curve and, therefore, we want to remove any impediments to response and recovery efforts.”

On March 18, Gov. Mike DeWine ordered the closure of more than 180 Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) offices in Ohio. There are five BMV registrars open and five loca- tions open for license exams.

“Extending the deadline will also allow the department to work with Congress to implement needed changes to expedite the issu- ance of Real IDs once the current health crisis concludes,” Wolf said. “Protecting both the health and national secu- rity of the American people continues to be the top priority for the president of the United States and the Department of Homeland Security.”
