Looking back at school year like no other

-

As a teacher in the Huber Heights City Schools, I see first-hand the extraordinary work being done by our teachers. I’ve been witness to the care and compassion our teachers have for all our students. As we close what has been a school year like we’ve never experienced before, I want to congratulate all the teachers and administrators for their dedication and commitment to the education of our students at every grade level.

I’d like to thank all students for staying the course and doing what you had to do even in the most difficult of circumstances. You adapted to a whole new style of learning and overcame challenges that so many of you faced. You will certainly remember the finish to this school year as you continue your education and can look back and know you did your best.

To the parents of students... what can I say? This has been a monumental challenge for all of you. Compounded with the stress of individual family economics, you had no choice but to become homeschoolers. I’ve heard, read and witnessed some of the struggles you have gone through to make sure your children were getting everything they needed during this crisis not only in regard to their education, but to their well-being in general. To all of you I say... job well done!

To graduating seniors .... Don’t let the circumstances of the last quarter of school put a damper on all that you have accomplished throughout your entire education. All of you have found a way to succeed and finish what you started so long ago. You accepted this challenge with strength, character, and integrity. It is my hope for you that even though things didn’t turn out the way you had envisioned, you’ll be able to look back and know that you found a way to persevere regardless of the challenges you faced. Use this situation as a constant reminder that you succeeded and overcame challenges never seen before. Rather than focus on the disappointments I know all of you have, let that knowledge be a constant reminder to motivate and inspire you throughout all the days of your life to never give up, never settle, and never lose sight of how special each of you are and that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

Congratulations Class of 2020!
