Tax department offers curbside service

-

The City’s Tax Department, located at 6232 Chambersburg Rd, has launched a new curbside tax filing service for residents. As a reminder the city’s tax filing deadline has been extended to July 15, but is strongly encouraging residents to file now. Estimated wait time should be roughly 15 minutes but times will depend on how many people are in line at the curb. If residents wait until July, they can expect up to 45 minutes to an hour wait.

When residents arrive at the Tax Office, you will call the number on the sign from your vehicle, provide your name, phone number, make and color of your vehicle. Assistance will be provided in the order that calls are received. Photo ID is required. An employee will put your tax documents in an envelope and then give to a tax technician to complete. Once finished, the tax technician will call you to discuss the return or any balance due. Keep in mind, payment isn’t due until July 15 and payment arrangements can be made. An employee will then bring tax documents back to your vehicle, verify identity with your ID, have you sign documents, and return all copies to you.
