A man twice convicted of weapons charges is being sought as a suspect in two shootings this month, one in Dayton and another in Moraine.

Shaquille Phillip Shackleford, 27, of Dayton is wanted in a Darst Avenue shooting May 11, when a man was wounded multiple times in what Dayton police say was a felonious assault.

He is also considered a suspect in a May 8 shooting at a Dryden Road Red Roof Inn, where a woman was shot several times in a carjacking, Moraine police said.

Shackleford is not listed as a suspect in Moraine police records, “but information has been developed since then that leads him to be

a suspect,” said Sgt. Andrew Parish, Moraine police public information officer.

Dayton police “are actively looking” for Shackleford after an order for his arrest was issued last week, said Cara Zinski-Neace, Dayton police’s public information specialist.

The Montgomery County Common Pleas Court order came after a community control officer said Shackleford — convicted last year of a felony weapons charge — had not been seen since May 4 and could not be found.

In 2019, Shackleford was sentenced to five years community control, court records said. A violation of his probation could result in up to three years in prison, records show.

In 2010, Shackleford pleaded guilty to felonious assault and was sentenced to five years, court records said.

He is 5-foot, 7-inches tall, 145 pounds, and is considered armed and dangerous, Moraine police said. Records show last known address on Dearborn Avenue.

Police ask anyone with information on his location to call Moraine police at 937535-1166, Crime Stoppers at 937-222-STOP (7867) or 911.

Dayton police records do not identify a victim or provide many details in that shooting, which was reported about 10:20 p.m.

Moraine police records show two men entered a Chevrolet Tahoe about 12:20 a.m. May 8 after the driver made a U-turn on Nicholas Road.

The men, one of whom had a gun, ordered the vehicle driven to the Red Roof Inn, where a Tahoe passenger said he heard six shots fired and learned the driver had been wounded.

The passenger then pulled the driver from the Tahoe before one of the suspects jumped into the driver’s seat and fled in the vehicle, records state.

The woman driver was later found by police in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds, records show.
