Pizza Hut’s Dayton-area franchisee will distribute more than 1,200 free pizzas to the families of Dayton Public Schools students this morning.

More than a half-dozen local Pizza Hut restaurants operated by Stow, Ohio-based Hallrich Inc., which oversees Pizza Hut’s stores throughout the Miami Valley and also in northeast Ohio, are gearing up to produce 1,204 pizzas, or more than 9,600 slices, for delivery this morning to seven Dayton public schools, which will distribute them to students’ families.

About 20 to 25 Hallrich Inc./ Pizza Hut employees are volunteering in the effort, according to Chuck Adams, a regional manager for Hallrich. Similar distributions will occur in five school districts in northeast Ohio, Hallrich

officials said.

Carol Magazzeni, Hallrich’s marketing director, said, “It’s widely known among parents of school-aged students that we have a school-lunch pizza available in many school cafeterias, but with schools and teachers holding class online and too many children missing meals, we wanted to feed these students including students in districts where we do not have a school lunch contract.”

Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli said the pizza kits will be distributed to families of Dayton Public Schools students as they drive through school parking lots to pick up their normal weekly school-district-provided meals. Only those families that are on the weekly meal lists will be able to take part in the pizza distribution.

The pizzas for Dayton Public Schools students’ families will be distributed at Kiser, Ruskin, Louise Troy and Westwood elementary schools; Rosa Parks Learn

ing Center; Wright Brothers Middle School; and Belmont High School.

“Pizza Hut contacted the district to let us know that they wanted to support DPS families with this extra treat,”

Lolli said. “We are so thankful that Pizza Hut is supporting our DPS families.”

Regional manager Adams said Dayton-area Pizza Hut stores have remained open throughout the pandemic and have done a brisk business helping to feed Miami Valley families during the statewide shelter-at-home order that has been in place for the last two months.

“For us, this is a way to give back to the community, which has given a lot to us,” Adams said.
