A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditat­ion for Law Enforcemen­t Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will be examining all aspects of the Clearcreek Township Police Division’s policy and procedures, management, operations and support services.

Verificati­on by the team that the Clearcreek Township Division of Police meets the Commission’s state of the art standards is part of a voluntary process to maintain the division’s accreditat­ion.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public call-in session on Thursday, May 28, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA Standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Clearcreek Township Government Center. Ask for Accreditat­ion Manager Sgt. Wally Stacy.

The Clearcreek Township Division of Police has to comply with 346 standards in order to gain re-accredited status. Clearcreek would remain one of only three accredited agencies in Warren County.

The assessment team is composed of public safety team is composed of public safety practition­ers from similar, but out—of— state agencies. Due to the state agencies. Due to the COVID— 19 pandemic, the assessors will be conducting their evaluation remotely. They will conduct their interviews and inspection­s by telephone and available video conferenci­ng.

The assessors are retired Chief Randy Nichols from Greenville, N.C., and Capt. Mel Lange of the North Palm Police Department, North Palm Beach, Fla.

Accreditat­ion is for four years, during which the agency must submit proof of continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.
