A Republican volunteer donates security cameras for Xenia building.

Five bullets were fired into the Greene County Democratic Party building in downtown Xenia over the weekend, and a volunteer from the Greene County Republican Party stepped up to donate some security cameras.

Doris Adams, the chair of the Greene County Democratic Party, said they don’t know if they will catch

who fired the shots because they don’t currently have security cameras outside.

“I think it was someone who was triggered by the protests over the weekend,” Adams said. “Just because we don’t share the same opinions as people in the county doesn’t mean we don’t have a right to have our own.”

Adams said it was really nice to have someone donate security cameras after the “totally uncalled for and unnecessary” event.

Caitlin Seybold, who donated the cameras, said she saw a post about the damage to the Democratic Party building on social media and wanted to do something to help.

“I was thinking of ways to help, and then the next day someone that I work for actually gave me two security cameras that they weren’t using,” Seybold said.

“I hadn’t even mentioned it at work, so I knew it was meant to be.”

Seybold said it was nice to see the two parties come together after the building was damaged.

“I was really encouraged by it,” Seybold said.

Adams said, “Good people come out of the woodwork in bad times.”

The shots were fired around 4 a.m. on Saturday morning by someone driving by the building from East Main Street. Adams discovered the bullets and damage when she was gardening at the building.

“Glass was all over the front room and one of the bullets hit a sign inside,” Adams said. “This is ridiculous. It’s just wrong.”

Xenia police are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Miller at 937-376-7209.

“I hope we catch them,” Adams said.
