Art competition
The B-W Greenway Community Land Trust and the Fairborn Art Association confirm the Landscape2020 juried art exhibition, to heighten public awareness of preserving local greenspaces through art, will be held as previously announced by both organizations.
Annually a different location in the Fairborn and/or Medway area is chosen as the subject of the paintings. The 2020 location is the area in and around the Osborn Historic District in downtown Fairborn. The Osborn Historic Garden Club has numerous members who live in the district and have agreed to permit artists to use their gardens for art inspiration.
The juried competition is open to all artists 16 years and older, living within 200 miles of Fairborn. Work may be oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, print, drawing, mixed media, photography or 3D hanging art less than 5 lbs. in weight. Size many not exceed 30 x 40 inches. A non-refundable entry fee of $20 for a total of three works must accompany the entry form. All entries will be received at the Fairborn Art Association Gallery, 221 North Central Ave. (in the rear of the building) on June 27, from 1-3 p.m.
The judge for Landscapes2020 is Shayna V. McConville. She is the Division Manager for Cultural Arts for the City of Kettering, where she oversees Rosewood Arts Centre & City Sites Percent for Art Program.
The award ceremony and opening reception will be changed this year to comply with Gov. Mike DeWine’s recommendations. This year, the artists selected for awards will be notified and awards including cash prizes will be available for pick-up by the artists at the Fairborn Art Gallery on Sunday, July 12, from 1-2 p.m. There will not be a public reception this year. The art will be on display at the Fairborn Art Association Gallery and open to the public on July 19 and July 26. Art pieces will also be on display at the B-W Greenway Community Land Trust Art Auction on Nov. 14.
