Mrs. Bailey has served Dixie Elementary students for 23 years. In addition to her outstanding work in the classroom, she has also served in building leadership and teacher mentorship roles for the district. Mrs. Bailey helps bring success to her students and the entire school each year. Ohio’s Master Teacher program allows teachers to demonstrate their practice based on the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession. A master teacher demonstrates excellence inside and outside of the classroom through consistent leadership and focused collaboration to maximize student learning. A master teacher strives for distinguished teaching and continued professional growth as specified by The Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession: understanding of learning and development, knowledge of content area, expertise in assessment, effective instruction, creation of supportive learning environments, collaboration in the learning community, and professional growth.

Mrs. Bailey created a portfolio of her work that was assessed by a team of Montgomery County educators who affirmed what New Lebanon staff members have known for a long time: Mrs. Bailey is a master teacher. Mrs. Bailey is joined by Lisa Batten, Jamie Lansdale and Tammy Broughton, who also were recognized as Ohio Master Teachers this year.
