U-HAUL UNVEILS 350 NEW STORAGE UNITS IN DOWNTOWN
Indoor units open in building downtown that was vacant since 2010.
U-Haul has unveiled 350 new indoor self-storage units in a downtown Dayton building that the moving and storage company acquired in 2017.
The storage units are now available at U-Haul Storage of Downtown Dayton at 360 S. Main St. The 83,000-square-foot building, just north of a McDonald’s restaurant, dates to the early 1900s. It has housed many businesses over the years, including a Borchers Ford car dealership for decades until the dealership departed in 1979, and a vocational and rehabilitation services health-care firm in the 1990s.
The facility has been vacant since about 2010, Mark Quinn, U-Haul Company of Dayton president, said in a release.
“U-Haul stepped in to revive the property,” Quinn said. “We’re excited to show off our hard work.
Downtown Dayton is seeing a major revitalization. There are new apartments popping up everywhere. University of Dayton students and long-time residents will be pleased with what we’ve done and what we’re able to offer now.”
More than three years of work went into refurbishing the building, which now includes high-tech security features and climate-controlled options, U-Haul officials said. Further renovation is expected to create 250 more storage rooms.
U-Haul Storage of Downtown Dayton will be operated remotely by U-Haul Moving & Storage of Dayton and general manager A.J. Ross.
