3 rec centers to open next week, as will tennis facility

-

Three Dayton recreation centers and the Jim Nichols Tennis Complex will reopen to the community on Monday.

The Greater Dayton Recreation Center, Northwest Recreation Center and Lohrey Recreation Center will operate fitness rooms and also offer group fitness classes.

The recreation centers are reducing the fitness class sizes and number of those who can be inside the facilities, per CDC guidelines.

The facilities will also operate under the following guidelines:

■ Patrons must register for 45-minute time slots to use fitness rooms, group exercise classes or the walking track at the Greater Dayton facility. Registration is available by calling or visiting a facility.

■ Patrons must wear a mask and sanitize their hands upon entering a facility. They also are required to complete a temperature screening and answer three health-related questions.

■ Showers and lockers will not be available. Patrons need to come dressed ready for their activity.

■ Restrooms are only available for their intended purposes and not for changing clothes.

■ When activities are complete, patrons are required to exit immediately through the assigned exit door.

Robin Williams, Dayton Recreation and Youth Services director, thanked patrons for their cooperation as facilities work to reopen.

“You are partners in this with us, and with your full cooperation we will be able to continue to operate and expand these programs and activities,” Williams said.

Hours for recreation centers are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. From 8 to 10 a.m., the facilities are for seniors 65 and up only.

The Jim Nichols Tennis Complex is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. The complex is closed from 2-4 p.m. for court maintenance.
