Grand jury: Grinnell Road shooter acted in self-defense

A man who shot and killed his ex-wife and her husband outside his multi-million dollar home near Yellow Springs will not face charges.

Greene County Prosecutor Stephen K. Haller said a grand jury determined that Robert “Lindsey” Duncan was acting in defense of himself and his wife in February when he shot and killed Cheryl Sanders and Robert “Reed” Sanders.

Lindsey Duncan is the founder of Genesis Today, which promotes health supplements, and he appeared on the Dr. Oz Show and The View nearly a decade ago to talk about weight loss.

Cheryl Sanders was a product spokeswoman and stunt woman who also appeared on the cover of Healthy Living Magazine.

An investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation revealed evidence that an assault by Cheryl and Robert Sanders was planned, according to the prosecutor’s office. “Both assailants were armed and determined to do harm to Mr. and Mrs. Duncan,” a statement by the prosecutor says.

”They drove to Ohio with the intent to kill. Investigators believe that the motive for the attack was greed and hatred,” the statement said.

On Feb. 12, deputies responded to the 3400 block of Grinnell Road after Lindsey Duncan called 911 and said he shot two people who came onto his property and threatened to kill him and his wife.

Robert Sanders was shot when he approached a vehicle as it pulled into the driveway, said Sheriff Gene Fischer. He said the Duncans were inside the vehicle, and Lindsey Duncan exchanged gunfire with Robert Sanders, who was shot and killed.

“I thought it was a bad nightmare. I didn’t know what to do,” Lindsey Duncan said during a news conference after the shootings.
