U.S. 35 project awarded

-

The Ohio Department of Transportation awarded a $13.2 million U.S. 35 project to Dayton-based Barrett Paving Materials. The project, which will begin in July, is the second phase of plans to upgrade the corridor between Interstate 75 in Dayton and Interstate 675 in Greene County. It will increase U.S. 35 from two to three lanes in each direction between Smithville Road in Dayton and I-675 in Beavercreek.

The project, which has been in the works for nearly two decades, has a tentative completion date of August 2022.

“This project needed three elements to come to fruition; vision, partnerships, and funding. The first two have been in place for some time. Thanks to the leadership of Gov. Mike DeWine and the Ohio General Assembly, we were able to grow the revenue stream which, in turn, allowed us to invest the dollars needed to make this project happen,” said ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks.

The first phase of the project widened the mainline bridges over Spinning Road and the Iron Horse

Trail. The third phase, which is in the design phase and scheduled for construction in 2023, will modify the Woodman Drive interchange.

During construction, drivers can expect ramp and lane restrictions at times. ODOT will alert the public about all construction updates in a weekly advisory posted on the ODOT website, and District 7’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Sign up for travel updates on OHGO.com.
