Juveniles steal, crash vehicle

-

One male juvenile is in custody after reportedly stealing a vehicle from a Marathon gas station on Riverside Drive and crashing it into a home.

At 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, the Montgomery County Sheriff ’s Office responded to the gas station after a report of a stolen vehicle, described as a black Chevy Sonic four-door sedan with Ohio license plate HWG5081, according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. A few minutes later, deputies were dispatched to the 4300 block of Rosemary Avenue on a report of a vehicle crashing into a structure. Deputies quickly determined that the vehicle was the same one stolen from the gas station.

Initial investigations showed that the owner of the stolen vehicle left the keys to her vehicle on the driver’s seat. Three male juveniles fled the gas station in the vehicle and traveled north on Riverside Drive then west on Forest Park Drive, where they threw the victim’s purse from the vehicle.

The Chevy continued west, crossing North Main Street and continuing onto Cavendish Drive.

The driver lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of Cavendish Drive and Rosemary Avenue and struck a utility pole, the northeast and northwest corners of a home and came to rest against the rear chain link fence.

A male juvenile was taken into custody. The incident remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff ’s Office Special Investigations Unit.
