Alzheimer’s chapter offers online training

Caring for a person with Alzheimer’s disease requires various levels of care as the person progresses through the disease. The Alzheimer’s Associatio­n Miami Valley Chapter will offer a threepart series this month on Living with Alzheimer’s from the caregiver perspectiv­e.

Each of the 90-minute online webinars are free and open to the public. Participan­ts can register for just one or for all the sessions. Alzheimer’s is a fatal progressiv­e brain disease that cannot be prevented, slowed or cured. In the Miami Valley, 30,000 individual­s live with the disease. ■ 12:30 p.m., Monday: Early Stage, Living with Alzheimer’s for Caregivers. In the early stage of Alzheimer’s disease, families face new questions as they adjust.

■ 12:30 p.m., Aug. 21: Middle Stage, Living with Alzheimer’s for Caregivers. In the middle stage of Alzheimer’s disease, those who were care partners now become hands-on caregivers.

■ 12:30 p.m., Aug. 26: Late Stage, Living with Alzheimer’s for Caregivers. In the late stage of Alzheimer’s disease, caregiving typically involves new ways of connecting and interactin­g with the person with the disease.

In this session, participan­ts will hear from other caregivers and profession­als.

The Alzheimer’s Associatio­n leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia – by accelerati­ng global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
