Jarvis Collins, 36, of Dayton, was located Thursday night after a 911 caller reported a suspicious vehicle and some people on the bike trail near Embury Park Road.
When Five Rivers MetroParks rangers responded, the SUV fled. While checking the area, rangers found Collins’ body. Five Rivers requested the sheriff’s help in investigating the incident.
Though it’s still early into the investigation, deputies believetheincidentmayhave happened somewhere else.
“It appears that this crime probably did not happen at that location,” Haines said. “Itmay not have happened in HarrisonTwp. But it looks like theywere trying todump the body there.”
The sheriff ’s office has identifiedmultiple persons of interestwho they are trying to contact, but could not provide additional details.
Haines said the department is lucky that someone sawthe SUV and decided to call 911.
“We say, ‘See something say something,’ and we’re glad that somebody picked upthephone and alerted the regional dispatch center so that we could go check this out,” he said. “Who knows if this person would have even been found if this citizen had not called us?”
