will sponsor a community blood driveMonda­y, Sept. 28, from7:30 to 11:30 a.m., to help maintain the area blood supply and to join the fight against cancer. The Community Blood Center Blood Mobile will be at 3831 Dayton Park Dr.

Everyone who registers to donate will receive a $10 couponfrom­the “What’s the Scoop?” ice cream shop in Brookville. Donors must make an appointmen­t atwww.DonorTime.comor by calling 937-461-3220.

Everyone who registers to donate will also receive the new “Wake Up It’s Time to Support the Fight” T-shirt honoring September Blood Cancer Awareness Month andOctober Breast Cancer Awareness Month or can chose the “Wake Up & Give” or “Time to Save a Life” T-shirt from earlier

in the “Wake Up & Donate” campaign.

Donors will also be automatica­lly entered in the “Wake Up & Donate” drawing to win a custom Sleep Number bed.

Fall is a vital time to donate: ■ “Cancer is not canceled” by COVID-19. September is a time to recognize howblood transfusio­ns are vitally important for the treatment of leukemia and lymphoma patients. October is the traditiona­l time to remember that blood products are equally important for those fighting breast cancer and all forms of the disease.

■ September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month, a time to increase awareness and education about the need for minority blooddonat­ions for those affected by sickle cell disease.

CBC continues to see cancelled blood drives and frequent blood shortages. Many businesses and organizati­ons cannot host blood drives due to continued COVID-19 related interrupti­ons.
