FX: Based on a bestselling book of the same title by filmmaker and author Errol Morris, this newfive-part true-crime docuseries from Emmy-winning producer Marc Smerling revisits one of the most noteworthy crimes of the latter 20th century: the 1970 murders of Army surgeon Jeffrey MacDonald’s wife and two young daughters. MacDonald steadfastly insisted the killingswere committed by hippies inspired by Charles Manson, but hewas convicted of the murders himself and is serving a life sentence. The first three episodes air here, followed by the final two on Oct. 2.
This third entry in the Keanu Reeves action thriller franchisewas the most successful to date, both in terms of box-office revenue and critical praise for the screenplay and performances. The story picks up just one hour after the events of the second “Wick” film and finds the ex-hitman title character on the run for his life, pursued by legions of assassins eyeing the $14 million contract placed on his head for his recent actions. Ian McShane, Mark Dacascos, Laurence Fishburne, Halle Berry and Anjelica Huston also star.
Childhood best friends Bruce and Abby (Leonardo Nam, Lily Gladstone) are understandably surprised when they run into each other for the first time in decades, but the experience is pleasant enough to motivate Bruce to hatch an admittedly eccentric plan to rekindle their long-dormant friendship. Alas, instead he just reopens some painful oldwounds in the new episode“The Night Babby Died.”
