Dayton Police Department officers and members of the Dayton Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #44 look forward to the opportunity to be part of providing some holiday cheer to many local families. This year, the Angel Tree will help 13 families, including 39 children, fromacross Dayton.
“This year has been a tough one for everyone as our community continues to navigate through a pandemic and its fallout. One thing that we wanted to make sure remained a constant in 2020 is the annual Angel Tree,” says Cara Zinski-Neace, Police Information Specialist.
Squads fromeach Patrol Operations Division/District, detective squads, civilians, and DPD retirees “adopt” families to provide needed gifts. Dayton FOP Lodge No. 44 also purchases newwinter coats for the children. New this year, each family also receives a gingerbread kit and popcorn tin.

The Montgomery County Township Association recently announced the winners of its annual MCTA Awards for Excellence. The awards recognize and thank township employees within Montgomery County for their exemplary work and dedication to the community in which they serve.
The 2020 recipients are: ■ Township Employee of the Year – Administrator: Jesse Lightle, Washington Twp. Administrator
■ Township Employee of the Year – Economic Development: Christopher Snyder
■ MiamiTwp. Director ofCommunity Development
■ Township Employee of the Year – Finance: Mike Barlow, Washington Twp.
■ Township Business Partner of the Year - Eric Heigel, General Manager, Washington Twp.
The recipients, all of whom were nominated by their peers, not only serve their communities, but also sit on various community boards, according to John Morris, MCTA board president.
