Movie: White Christmas, 2 PMon SUN; 4:45PM on SUN; 7:30PMon SUN; 10:15PMon SUN; 1AMon SUN; 3:45AMon SUN: Some purists may sniff that 1942’s “Holiday Inn,” of which this 1954 musical is a partial remake, is a superior piece ofwork. The fact remains that this latter vehicle for Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen has become a compulsory part of the yuletide celebratio­n formillion­s around the world. The classic title tune is just one of several memorable Irving Berlin melodies performed here with style, heart and panache.

TCM: A successful lifestyle journalist (Barbara Stanwyck) is lauded by her readers as the sweetest, most efficient homemaker in the countrysid­e. Problem is, Elizabeth (Stanwyck) is a chain-smoking urbanite in a city apartment. When her boss suggests she host a soldier on leave for the holidays, she needs to come up with a home, child and cooking skills fast! Dennis Morgan and S.Z. Sakall costar in the 1945 romantic comedy.

and Ch. 9: Aussie filmmaker Michael Gracey made a very big splash with his feature directoria­l debut on this 2017 blockbuste­r, which overcame mixed reviews to become the fifth-highestgro­ssing live-action musical of all time. Criticsmai­nly took issuewith howmuch artistic license the movie took with the real-life saga of P.T. Barnum, played by Hugh Jackman, but audiences clearlywer­e swept away by the sheer spectacle and engaging cast, which also includes Zac Efron, Michelle Williams and Zendaya. The song “This Is Me” was nominated for an Oscar.
