Suspicious object at school found to be safe
Students and staff at South Vienna Elementary School in the Northeastern Local School District returned to the school safely after being evacuated Thursday morning, according tothe district’s communications coordinator Megan Anthony.
Law enforcement agencies conducted an investigation that was reported around 10:09 a.m. on Thursday at the school located at 140 W. Main St., according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The ClarkCounty Sheriff’s Office and the Dayton Bomb Squad conducted the investigation after a suspicious object was reported at the elementary, Anthony said.
Staffmembersnotified law enforcementandbeganevacuating students and staff to Northeastern High School where parents were asked to pick up their children.
“The Clark County Sheriff’sOfficeand DaytonBomb Squadconducteda thorough investigationanddetermined that the objectwas safe and did not pose a security risk,” Anthony said. “The officers cleared the entire building and determined itwould be safe for students and staff to return.”
Therewas no risk or injuries to students or staff.
Anthony said lawenforcement “complimented the students and staff” on their quick response to ensure everyone was safe.
