MadRiverMo­untain open, with changes

Ifyou’relooking SPRINGFIEL­D— for an outdoor winter experience, head north to Mad River Mountain, a ski resort in Logan County.

Mad River Mountain is open for skiing and snowboardi­ng with new procedures due to the coronaviru­s pandemic.

“We’ve designed an approach that can remain in place all winter so that you know what to expect and you’re not caught off guard,” the resort’s website said.

Mad River Mountain is requiring skiers and snowboarde­rs to reserve lift tickets online prior to visiting the resort.

“To allowfor physical distancing, we are managing access to our mountains through a reservatio­n system that prioritize­s pass holders and by limiting lift ticket sales,” the website said.

Life tickets range from$19 to $54 depending on age, day of the week and time you are planning to go. Ski or snowboard rental is $35.

Face cover i n g s are required to access the mountain, in any line, on chairlifts, indoors andwheneve­r you are unable to maintain physical distance, the website said.

Other new procedures at the resort include cashless transactio­ns.

This is the 59th season for the Logan County resort, which features 20 trails, 12 lifts and four terrain parks.

As ofThursday, nine trails, four lifts and 45% of the terrain is open, according to the website.

Mad River Mountain also has a tubing park, but it is not open yet. An opening date willbeanno­uncedsoon, the website said.

The resort has the largest snowmaking system in Ohio, with more than 120 fan guns to cover the terrains in snow.

Mad River Mountain, located at 1000 Snow Valley Road in Zanesfield, is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
