Black actress plays title role of ‘Batwoman’
Don’t miss: “Batwoman”: The second season of the superhero saga takes on a very different look as Javicia Leslie steps into the lead role vacated by Ruby Rose. She plays Ryan Wilder, a woman from the rougher side of Gotham who stumbles upon Kate Kane’s Batsuit and uses it as armor while going rogue in the streets of the city and taking out various members of a new gang called the False Face Society. While Ryan lurks in the shadows, Gotham grapples with the mysterious disappearance of its hero. Leslie is making history as the first Black woman to portray the caped crusader. (8 p.m., The CW).

Today: From executive producers Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, the new true-crime series “Exhumed” examines gripping murder cases in which unearthing a victim’s body is the key to solving the twisted crimes. Each episode features an exhumation that has led to shocking breakthroughs and unexpected twists. (7 p.m., Oxygen).
Today: Move over Sherlock Holmes. Victorian England’s first female sleuth is on the case. In “Miss Scarlet & The Duke,” Kate Phillips stars as headstrong private eye Eliza Scarlet. She works alongside Scotland Yard Detective Inspector William Wellington (Stuart Martin), aka The Duke, who, of course, is a potential love interest, (8 p.m., PBS).
Monday: As a new season of “9-11” begins, it’s utter chaos when the Hollywood Reservoir dam breaks. Bobby and the 118 race into action to save passengers on a city bus that has crashed into a building. Meanwhile, Maddie must locate, then rescue, a trapped cyclist, and Athena helps an agoraphobic woman evacuate her home. (8 p.m., Fox).
Monday: On the season premiere of “9-1-1: Lone Star,” the 126 crew responds to a military tank on the loose in downtown Austin and a human pile-up at the roller derby. Also, new paramedic captain, Tommy Vega, joins the team, and Owen receives an update on his cancer. (9 p.m., Fox).
Tuesday: As a new era prepares to begin in Washington, “Frontline” airs “President Biden.” The hourlong documentary examines how crisis and tragedy prepared Joe Biden to become America’s next president and features interviews with close friends and colleagues who describe the moments that shaped his life and career. (10 p.m., PBS).
Wednesday: On the season premiere of “Riverdale,” Betty and Jughead’s investigation into the mysterious “auteur” leads them to discover a secret underground for red-band screenings. Also, in order to impress the visiting Naval Academy Commandant, Archie agrees to participate in a boxing exhibition. (8 p.m., The CW).
Thursday: After starring in “Supernatural” for 15 seasons, you’d think Jared Padalecki would want a little break. But he’s right back at it in the drama series “Walker.” It’s a reboot of “Walker, Texas Ranger,” in which he plays the lawman with his own moral code. (8 p.m., The CW).
Friday: In the Israeli thriller “Losing Alice,” Ayelet Zurer plays a 48-year-old film director who feels irrelevant after taking a step back to raise a family, while her husband, David, enjoys the prime of his acting career. She soon becomes obsessed with a young screenwriter and her haunting film in which David is set to star. Ominous intrigue ensues. (Apple TV+).
Saturday: The new TV film “SaltN-Pepa” recalls the incredible journey of Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton, who met as nursing students at Brooklyn’s Queensborough Community College and went on to have a big pop cultural impact as one of the first all-female rap groups. GG Townson and Laila Odom star. (8 p.m., Lifetime).
