The already gorgeous

CEDARVILLE — vista of Cedar Cliff Falls is now even more spectacular.

Year-round, the falls will now be illuminated by color-changing lights. The first light show was Valentine’s Day-themed, with pinks and purples lighting up the cascades and the surrounding cliffs.

“The lights will be up all year, but the color will change depending on the season (or) holiday,” according to a statement from Greene County Parks and Trails, which oversees the falls and the surrounding reserve. “It will be changing often … next is green for St. Patrick’s Day!”

The waterfall is located in the 166-acre Indian Mound Reserve, though it can be easily accessed by parking in the Peterson Park parking lot in Cedarville, located at 2750 U.S. 42. The falls are a short walk across a pedestrian bridge that stretches across the gorge leading to the falls.

“Cedar Cliff Falls was originally used to harness the power of Massie Creek for the Harbison Mill, which shuttered its doors way back in 1917,” according to Natural Ohio Adventures. “Although it’s actually man-made, the striking beauty of Cedar Cliff Falls as it gracefully drops into the Massie Creek Gorge rivals any natural waterfall western Ohio has to offer.”

Though the falls are a mustvisit spot at all times of day, the lights come on at nightfall. According to Greene County Parks and Trails, all Greene County parks are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week as long as people are recreating appropriately.
