Montgomery Virtual peace program
The Hindu Temple of Dayton hopes to promote peace during the coronavirus pandemic this weekend.
The livestream program “Vedic Prayers & Meditation for Peace, Healing & Welfare for All” will be from 3-5 p.m. today through Zoom. The program is open to everyone. RSVPs are requested, said Dr. Ravi Khanna with the Hindu Temple of Dayton.
“There is so much going on right now. People have been through a lot with losing jobs or all the death that’s happened,” Khanna said.
The program this weekend will include chants for peace, meditation and a question and answer session. The prayers will be done in Vedic, an ancient Sanskrit language that was part of early Hindu culture. The prayers ad chants will ask for peace, healing and health and wellness for all. Khanna added that participants need not have any Hindu affiliation. The event is more spiritual, and not limited to just the Hindu religion, he said.
“Everybody is welcome,” Khanna said.
Khanna recommends that those who are going to watch the program do so in a distraction-free environment, so that they can meditate.
To RSVP for the event, go to https://daytontemple.com/RSVP or for more information, call Khanna at 937-206-1487 or 937399-7537.
The Hindu Temple of Dayton will also be raising money for the hungry and homeless during this event. Those participating can donate at

Khanna said the temple did a similar program in Springfield and raised $7,000. The temple donated those funds to Family Needs, Inc. and Interfaith Hospitality Network in Springfield earlier this month.
