Two Dayton men who are accused of shooting and killing a teen at a Springfield gas station have been indicted.

Sean Thomas, 26, was indicted for aggravated murder, murder, attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault and having weapons under disability, according to court records.

Demietrus Scott, 21, was indicted for aggravated murder, two counts of murder, attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault.

Warrants were issued for both of their arrests on March 1. As of Tuesday, neither Thomas or Scott were listed as inmates in jail.

Keyshayla Collins, 19, of Springfield, was shot and killed Feb. 26 at Speedway, 1147 N. Limestone St., according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office. A man also was shot and taken to the hospital, according to police. He was treated and released.

Officers were dispatched on Feb. 26 to a shooting at the gas station after several gunshots were heard. When police arrived, they found Collins lying at the entrance of the gas station along with the man who was injured by gunshot wounds, according to an affidavit filed in the case.

Thomas and Scott were identified as the suspects after information gathered from witnesses, descriptions and surveillance video, according to the affidavit.

In the surveillance video, police observe Collins and the man exit the gas station before Thomas confronts them and begins “firing multiple shots” that struck Collins and the man, the affidavit stated.

“It found that Thomas was the one who fired an unknown 9mm semi-auto handgun multiple times, which caused the death of (Collins) and injury to (the man). It was also found that (Scott) was the driver of the suspect vehicle,” the affidavit stated.

Clark County’s K-12 school district employees will receive their second of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine this week, the county’s health commissioner said.

The county is slated to give roughly 8,000 COVID19 vaccinations this week, with 4,500 being second doses for K-12 school employees and others who have received their first dose of Moderna about four weeks ago, Clark County Combined Health District Commissioner Charles Patterson said.

Clinics were scheduled for Tuesday, today, Thursday and Saturday. School employees were given the option to select a vaccination clinic from those four days that work best with their schedules.

Educators in the county started receiving their first doses of vaccine on Feb. 10. During that week, 2,700 doses were given to facility members.

As of Tuesday, Clark County had given 26,123 vaccination shots, according to ODH. That means 19.4% of the county’s population has had at least one dose of vaccine.

Clark County had 12,432 cases of the coronavirus as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the Ohio Department of Health. The county also had 319 deaths and 16 probably deaths as of Friday, according to data from the CCCHD.

The county and ODH have moved to only updating their deaths on Fridays.
