The sun is shining, birds are chirping and the snow is melting—all signs that spring is ready to blossom.
What a difference from a few of weeks ago when our community was hit with two hefty snow and ice events — our first significant snowfall in about 10 years. Springboro experienced 16 inches of snow over six days — and like always — our service department immediately responded by salting and plowing to keep our roads safe.
The grateful response from our community was immediate and overwhelming as well. Our citizens and businesses thanked our crews with appreciative messages on social media, delivered soup, pizza, brownies and other snacks to the service department and two local restaurants invited the crews for a complimentary lunch. Thank you all for supporting the best team around. We also appreciate that our residents followed our snow removal guidelines and cleared their streets of parked cars so we could get the job done.
As we welcome spring, please get out and enjoy all the wonderful resources your city has to offer. Last year, we again gained status as a Bicycle Friendly Community and have over 10 miles of bike lanes throughout the city. Our parks are perfect for walking, running, playing or just sitting and taking in the views. Visit www. ci.springboro.oh.us and click “Biking in the Boro” for our biking system map or “Parks and Recreation” for ways to enjoy the great outdoors.
Take a stroll through our charming Historic Downtown featuring unique boutiques, restaurants and services. Make sure to visit the Historic Springboro
Facebook page for information on upcoming special events and programs.
Our Fiber to the Home project is underway. The city, in conjunction with Point Broadband, is beginning construction on a 100% citywide fiber-optic network. Residents can expect to see construction teams completing both aerial and underground work, first working on main roads like St. Rt. 741, St. Rt. 73, Lytle-Five Points and Pennyroyal, and then they’ll move onto neighborhoods. Visit www.ci.springboro.oh.us for more information.
Thank you for your continued support of our local businesses. Choosing local helps keep jobs and tax dollars in our community!
I am so proud of the many ways our residents come together as a community. It is indeed an honor to serve as your mayor. Please contact our City Offices, 937-748-4343 or email askus@cityofspringboro. com with your questions and
