Don’t forget about city tax-filing deadline

-

Since last year’s tax filing deadline was extended to July 15, 2020, you may feel like you just filed. But the 2020 tax filing deadline is actually just around the corner. The city’s deadline for filing 2020 returns is April 30.

That deadline gives you a little extra time to file your city return after you meet your Federal filing obligation April 15.

Please note, as in the past, you’ll need to submit a copy of page 1 of your Federal Form 1040 with your Springboro return.

Residents will find forms and filing information on the city’s website at ci.springboro.oh.us. We pulled out the stops to help residents file during COVID — and we’re keeping all those options in place. Here are additional tips:

Ask us to prepare your return remotely

Submit your tax documents and we’ll prepare your return free of charge and send it to you for review/signature. Typically, all we’ll need is your W-2’s and the first page of your Federal Form 1040; if we need something else, we’ll contact you. You can deliver your forms to us by mail (320 W Central Avenue), use the electronic dropbox available on our website, or put them in the physical dropbox at the city building. Be sure to include your contact information in case we have questions.

Get help from home

If you have questions about preparing your return, call us at 937748-9701. Or, go to our website and schedule a Zoom appointment; we’ll be happy to visit with you virtually. And, if you provide us with your tax documents at least 24 hours in advance of a Zoom call, we’ll even prepare your return and be ready to discuss the results when we “meet.”

Visit by appointment

If you prefer to have a staff member prepare your return while you wait, schedule an appointment online or by calling 937-748-9701. Walk-in service is not available. All who seek in-person assistance will be required to wear masks.
