City manager to join Leadership Ohio class

Dayton City Manager Shelley Dickstein will join the 2021 class of Leadership Ohio, a group of accomplish­ed profession­als from the government, non-profit and for-profit sectors.

Dickstein is one of 43 Fellows chosen by the statewide organizati­on to participat­e in a year-long virtual learning experience designed to enhance leadership abilities through individual and col- laborative work. The Fellows will engage with a network of scholars, activists, inno- vators and influencer­s and will be supported in developing Ohio Impact Projects that respond to conditions of inequity and injustice.

Dickstein was appointed city manager by the Dayton City Commission in Febru- ary of 2016. As city man- ager, Dickstein oversees a municipal budget of over $670 million and a work- force of approximat­ely 1,900 employees. She has 20 years of urban administra­tion and economic developmen­t expe- rience, leading to the creation or retention of thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in developmen­t in Dayton.

The 2021 Lead e rs h ip Ohio class includes four elected officials and multiple appointed officials representi­ng both public and private sector leadership. More than half are women and 35% are minorities. The class is the organizati­on’s 38th learning cohort. constructi­on and field work to ensure reliable electric service for AES Ohio customers. Vest has been with AES Ohio for almost 27 years and serves on the local Junior Achievemen­t board.
