Montgomery Dementia workshop
The Area Agency on Aging presents a 3.0 credit hour continuing education workshop, The Complexities of Dementia – Symptoms, Progression, Treatment and Caregiver Resources, from 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, online via Zoom. The cost is $40 to earn CEUs or $20 to attend without CEUs.
Presenters are Rebecca Hall and Abby Edwards from the Alzheimer’s Association, Miami Valley Chapter.
Hall is a program director who earned her master’s degree in social work from Wright State University. She has worked in the non-profit field for over 14 years, including the areas of Senior health and wellness programming, nutrition and Alzheimer’s and dementia caregiving.
Edwards is a clinical manager who earned her master’s degree in social work from Boston College. She is experienced in serving people with dementia and their caregivers, those requiring complex geriatric care management, veterans and adults experiencing chronic homelessness.
Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are conditions that advance over time, with medications available but no cure. Of the nearly 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease, 80% reside in their homes relying on family caregivers. For November as National Family Caregivers Month, this workshop recognizes the impact on caregivers’ mental health and well-being in addition to addressing these questions:
