Bridges of Hope
Bridges of Hope is among five programs across Ohio receiving a workforce development grant from the Association of Ohio Commodores Foundation Fund.
The Association awarded Bridges of Hope $10,000 to support
Bridges of Hope’s DayHub Computer Lab. Ohio’s former First Lady, Hope Taft, a member of the Commodores, nominated Bridges of Hope for this grant award.
Funding from the Commodores will enable Bridges of Hope to create the DayHub Computer Lab, where staff and volunteers can work with shelter guests to submit housing applications, do employment searches, submit job applications, receive communications from potential employers, and learn basic computer skills. Funding for the DayHub Computer Lab will be used to purchase computers, printers, and supplies, and upgrade the internet connections needed to allow multiple users. Funds will also be used for staffing to manage the
Lab and teach basic computer skills. Additional funding has also been granted by the Evangelical First Lutheran Church, with two additional grants pending.
The Association of Ohio Commodores awarded grants totaling $80,000 as the Association celebrated its 55th anniversary with this inaugural grant round during its 2021 Winter Meeting.
The Association of Ohio Commodores Foundation Fund was established in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), a regional community foundation serving the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio.
