Volunteers keeping Springboro strong
Springboro has much to be thankful for: great schools, vibrant downtown, strong history, terrific parks, wide variety of restaurants and shopping, and a robust business community. We are also fortunate to have many involved and engaged citizens volunteering for so many organizations throughout our city. We appreciate your service.
As we wrap up 2021, I invite you to enjoy some upcoming family-friendly events in our community. Get tickets for the Springboro Community Theatre production of “The Wedding Singer,” Friday through Sunday. Based on the popular ’90s movie, the musical is sure to delight audiences of all ages. Visit www.borotheatre.org for details.
The Springboro Area Historical Society hosts a Veterans Day Salute 9 a.m.–2 p.m. on Thursday at the Museum, 110 S. Main Street. Following a brief opening ceremony, free donuts and coffee will be available.
Veterans will also have an opportunity to share their stories via video or written memoir.
One of our community’s signature events, Christmas in Springboro, is Nov. 19-21 in beautiful historic downtown. Featuring food vendors, shopping, entertainment, kids’ activities and 5K run, the tree lighting ceremony kicks off the festivities at 6:45 p.m. Friday at Rotary Park. Santa’s Parade begins at noon Saturday and the festival concludes at 5 p.m. Sunday. Christmas in Springboro utilizes funds raised during this event to support local non-profits. Visit www.springborofestivals.org for the complete schedule.
Our leaf collection program is underway. Crews will be on your street at least 10 times to collect leaves at the curb. Please see our website, www. ci.springboro.oh.us for the collection schedule, as this city service will continue through the end of the year.
As we approach Veterans Day, I send sincere and heartfelt appreciation to all those who have served. Thank you for your dedication to keeping our country safe.
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!
