Summer Music Series, Movie Night are hits

-

Summer has officially arrived in Huber Heights. Even with the rain we’ve experienced, the Kroger Aquatics Center is off to a great start and providing a perfect fun in the sun space of which many residents have been taking full advantage.

We kicked off The Heights Summer Music Series on June 4 with the Dayton Funk AllStars and saw a wonderful turnout. If you missed that concert, there is still a full schedule of artists lined up to perform at the Eichelberger Amphitheater.

Our first Free Summer Movie Night had a great turnout last night and everyone enjoyed the showing of Homeward Bound: The Journey Home. There are still more movie nights, so don’t miss out on a fun family night out thanks to our Arts & Beautification Commission.

The Culture and Diversity Citizen’s Action Commission

has been hard at work on the first Culture Week here in Huber Heights. Culture Week kicks off at the Eichelberger Amphitheater on Sunday at 5 p.m. with the Juneteenth Music Festival featuring the Fly City Funk Band and a variety of food trucks. The entire week has a variety of FREE events planned and you can find all those event details at www.hhoh.org under the latest news information.

What I am most excited about is our upcoming 4th of July Star Spangled Heights that will be held on July 2. We are back to a full day of fun in Thomas A. Cloud Park. This year the parade starts at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Brandt Pike and Chambersburg and ends at Nebraska.

Then head over to Cloud Park at 12 p.m. where there will be a flag ceremony at the new Veterans Memorial. At 12:10 p.m. at Cloud Park, the festival begins. There will be a car show, children’s games and activities, live bands, a beer garden, and 25-plus food trucks. Capping things off will be the fireworks launching at dark. Make sure to like and follow the city’s

Facebook page (https:// www.facebook.com/ hhohcity/) where events and important announcements are posted.

I’d like to remind residents that all city council actions are posted on the city website at www. hhoh.org under the Government tab > Council > Council Actions. Here you will be able to quickly see and read all recommended actions

from the work sessions and the subsequent action taken at the council meetings. My intent for this is to provide residents a place to stay up to date on all legislative agenda items.

As always, I want to continue to encourage everyone to attend in-person or tune in to Board and Commission meetings, City Council work sessions, and

City Council meetings through the “Watch Live” feature at www.hhoh. org. By engaging this way, it not only helps you stay up to date with what is happening in our wonderful city, but it can provide you an opportunity to provide feedback, voice your concerns, and gain valuable insight into decision-making processes that impact the entire community.
