Big events planned in city as end of summer nears
Summer is coming to a close and we’re getting ready for back to school — but that doesn’t mean our event schedule is slowing down.
Our concerts are the highlight of the season, and this year we’ve welcomed a record 22,000 guests to our live shows at North Park. I’m very proud of the outstanding reputation we’ve built for providing quality entertainment in a safe and fun venue. Special thank you to our Park Board along with our Parks, Service, Police, Fire and EMT staffs. Thanks to all our food truck vendors and to Springboro Rotary members, who staffed the concession stand, and to Springboro Wee Panther Football for handling beer sales.
We offer these events for the community and appreciate all those who gave up their evening so thousands of people can have a fun night. Upcoming events at North Park include the Springboro
Community Theatre’s production of “Oliver.” Aug. 12 -14, Bike the Boro/The Big Event on Sept. 3 and Boro Fest on Oct. 1.
Stop by Wright Station on Ohio 741 and Ohio 73 for live music on Tuesday and Friday evenings through the end of the month. See the schedule on our website, www. ci.springboro.oh.us. There are plenty of places to grab dinner and drinks.
Wright Station is a DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) that allows patrons to carry alcoholic beverages in designated cups in that area. This has been a very successful economic development tool, and City Council is considering extending the DORA to Historic Springboro in the next few months.
Along with city-sponsored events, Springboro is brimming with activities for the entire family. A few on tap include the Springboro Area Historical Society’s annual Ice Cream Social on Aug. 21, ARTFest on Main on Aug. 27, Oktoberfest on Sept. 9 and 10, and monthly food truck nights and special shopping events in our Historic Downtown.
Enjoy the rest of your summer.
